Still aren't following me on Twitter? What are you waiting for?

I’m writing to you now after 2 months of not drinking alcohol. I did not drink a drop of the devil’s lemonade, until tonight, in 8 weeks. 2 months sounds longer than 8 weeks, but if you think really hard about it, they’re almost the same.
First of all, let me say this: I see the benefits of both sobriety and drunkness. Sobriety can be really fun. Yes, I’m serious. Drunkness is also fun, but it’s ten times funner after an extreme bout of sobriety.
Let me tell you why I’ve been sober for 2 months and why you should try something similar periodically.
I’ve been studying the effects of temporary detoxification (and fasts) on the body. I didn’t originally intend to be sober for 8 weeks to detox, but rather, to fully concentrate on business and working out. I’ll post more about my pretty incredible results in both later.
Frankly, the body needs time to rest. You may not be aware, but there could possibly be 25 pounds worth of old fecal matter and waste in your colon right now. Fat ass.

The western diet is so full of crap: sugar, processed food, cooking oils, and dairy, that your colon can get dirtier than a really dirty analogy. So, on Friday, Clay and I are going to begin a 5 day fast to rid ourselves of all the food we’ve been eating lately. Mainly, the 36 (3 dozen) eggs we’ve both been eating a day…more on that later too.
This all brings me to my point: alcohol is an acidic substance. Your body is in a constant struggle to stay neutral. So, if you never give your body basic foods (fibrous veggies and fruits) you’ll never be completely chemically balanced. And if you’re never completely balanced, then you’re going to run into problems.
That’s where a detox and/or fast comes into play. They help normalize your body’s pH levels and stabilize your system.
AND, now, after learning and studying all this, I’m coming to realize why I love eating healthy foods, and why I’ve stuck with a (somewhat) healthy lifestyle. I FEEL NORMAL when I eat good foods like spinach and broccoli. It helps my system stay balanced and it releases endorphins. I also think that’s why an alcohol detox was not that difficult for me.
So, for you - think about it. Are you depressed? Do you get cold sores? Do you get acne blemishes now and again? Do you get dry skin? Is there anything bothering you?
Check your DIET first! Add basic foods like veggies. Add fish oil. Add fiber like psyllium husks. I guarantee within a week you’ll start feeling better.
AND, if you really want to step things up, try a fast. Go on a 3-5 day juice fast and in as little as three days your system can be rejuvenated.
I’ll be telling you how my fast goes starting Friday. Right now, I’m going to continue to drink and enjoy myself. Come Friday I’ll be getting it all out of my system anyway.
Stumble upon it

Ya its totally true Derek. I know from experience cause I’ve changed my diet completely recently and I have more energy, better focus, along with a bunch of other things. +1 for Fish Oil. Btw start a bush diving league in Panama. You may have to be intoxicated though
Yah don’t grow up to be a professional drinker like your brother. cheers!
Don’t believe this hippie propaganda.
Booze rules. Fried foods rule. America rules. Simple as that.
The illnesses and mental problems you list are more likely a result of genetic history and environmental influences than diet. Fish oil is not the cure for cancer.
