Thanks for your comment.

I was surprised to find similar opinions in the discussion @ Get Rich Slowly. There were several others who felt it was extremely boring also. Maybe it was the glass of wine I had while watching it, but I had no problem getting sucked in.

As far as background information, I didn't think a preface was really needed as I never had one. He described his situation in the beginning of the video - pancreatic cancer was going to kill him within a year. Beyond that, I thought it was fairly clear that he was a professor and this was a lecture. But you're right, a little background info never hurts.

In my opinion, I don't think you need to be a friend of Randy to appreciate the video. Over 10 million people have seen this video and they weren't all friends of his. I think this man really touched a lot of people.

Glad I don't have a sister...

Wow, that was the most boring thing I've ever tried to watch. I think I stopped at the virtual reality bunnies. I'd bet the majority of his audience was a fan of his before attending that lecture, because if a friend of mine had dragged me to this, I would have had sex with his sister as payback.

Maybe you could have prefaced this video by telling us what this guy is about? I made it 45 minutes through and i still couldn't tell. Too bad because it seems like he is an important figure in your life.
